Spike & Barley Play is a video LP series of two good friends who love cracking up at random things, pissing each other off and generally screaming at horror games. We started it in at the beginning of 2011 and have come to gain quite a following of pretty awesome fans.

Is there a schedule?

We aim to upload at least two videos per week. I aim for weekdays at around 2pm EST/11am PST.

What hardware/software do you guys use?

This ones confusing. We voice chat through Skype and screen share through Google Plus using XSplit. We allow each other to hear the games through Virtual Audio Cable.

Recording Software
I use Dxtory. Sometimes, when Dxtory doesn’t work with a certain program, we use Fraps.

Recording Hardware
My recording mic is a Blue Yeti microphone, and I use a Logitech G930 headset.

Editing Software
I prefer to use Sony Vegas Pro 12 for video and GoldWave for audio.

Streaming Software
For streaming on Twitch.tv, I use XSplit streaming at 720p.

Whats with the Tim/Al stuff?

Honestly, it was just an inside joke between Spike and I.

I was randomly playing the SNES game “Home Improvement” and as soon as Spike saw the Tim face on the TV, he pretty much laughed for a good 5 minutes. So when it came time for us to do the next update video, I surprised him by editing all of our vocals to the Tim and Al faces to crack him up. It ended up just becoming our thing!
