Even though this may be old news to some. E.g. Those who were there during my live stream, and Spike announced it to the ever iconic “Spike & Barley” thread over at Facepunch. After being bombarded with questions about it, I had to finally get the video I had been making uploaded.

Spike and I have decided to essentially pull the plug on scheduled Spike & Barley Play. We want to go back to roots, when we played games for fun and not for visual entertainment. This does mean a lot less Spike & Barley Play, but it also means we’re going to start doing our own solo content and content with friends on our own channels.

I felt as though I really needed to make sure people felt the video did us justice as to what Spike and I have become to you guys. Two friends playing games and inviting the world to join along. I know some people have already expressed to me that they’re unsubscribing. However, I hope that everybody can enjoy us for who we are individually and not just for the chemistry between Spike and I.

I will be still doing LP’s, collabs, streaming more, Barley Animated Shorts, etc… Spike will also be doing LP’s as well as various other videos on his channel. My channel is still NewfZ but if you haven’t done so yet, go subscribe to Spike’s now!

I wanna thank everybody who came out to the New Years cast last night, it was a fun filled night of alcohol, Christmas presents, hang outs on Google+, Spike telling everybody that he’s shaved recently, Occupying YouTube, harassing 1MewTwo on Twitter, etc…

We had the option to go out and get drunk at a party last night, but we decided we’d rather spend it with you guys on Twitch. And why shouldn’t we? It’s thanks to you that we’ve had such an amazing 2011, I would have never predicted this last New Years. Hell, last New Years I was still making The Residents and Spike n’ Barley Play was just an idea I was trying to convince Spike to do. 1 year later, I’m just as sleep deprived and we’ve made our subscriber count go tenfold. Last January we had just under 1000 subscribers, tonight the channel should be hitting near 10,000 subscribers. That’s insane, but we only have you guys to thank for it.

Last night I also let everybody know that we’ll be doing a Cry of Fear stream in February. Spike and myself will be doing the co-op campaign leading up to the release of the mod. I’ll be putting up a video later this month with more information on that, but I can officially say that we’re both super psyched for it.

We had planned on sending out Christmas letters for all those donators who donated back in November for our headsets, but I thought it’d be a little more personal if I sent them out for our 1 year birthday of “Spike n’ Barley Play” instead. I’ll have a video of me sending those out in the next few weeks as it gets closer to January 21st.

I suppose I should also use this time to address a long unanswered question, my Resident Evil machinimas. I had a lot of fun and made a lot of friends making those, and essentially it’s what started my channel and potentially set Spike and I on our year long roller coaster ride. As much fun as I had making them, they also brought a lot of sleepless nights and added a lot of stress to a few of my friendships. I decided to throw in the towel while I still could. I might return to machinima one day, but right now I want to enjoy what’s in front of me.

Anyways, back on topic. It’s been one crazy trip, and I’ve made a lot of cool friends along the way, so here’s to 2012. Hope to see you all at the next New Years.

Wow, it’s almost been a year since Spike n’ Barley started and over 3 years since the first Barley Productions video. Me and Spike have had a wild ride this year and we want to wish you all a Merry Christmas! <3 Lets hope the next year is even better!

Yeah, we broke.

Today we’re finally launching that Minecraft server that the forum has been beta testing for us. So go on over to the Minecraft page and check it out!

So after a month of absence, we’re back with new content and getting the ball rolling again. We’ll be catching up with the Favourite Moment’s series and going full throttle for December. We have big plans for the upcoming month, such as doing a boat load of custom Amnesia maps, BF3 coop, possibly Cryostasis, continuing Silent Hill, etc… It’s the least we could do for all the support you guys have given while we weren’t recording. Here’s looking to December!

As the video says, it’s my birthday today. I figured I’d use this random event to update you guys on whats been happening. As a lot of you have noticed, we’ve gotten partnership with The Game Station. This is probably the coolest thing to happen to us yet, and we have you guys to thank for it. So this month I decided to launch a new SnBP series called Favorite Moments. It’ll showcase a certain month’s favorite moments of Spike n’ Barley Play, throughout the second half of October I’ll be uploading a ton of them starting with January. I’ll do this until we’re caught up and can release episodes at the end of each month. I wouldn’t say it’s the “Best of” because that’s subjective and different for everybody. But call it whatever you want.

We redesigned the entire channel, thanks to Brandon Davenport (www.okaygeek.com) for that one. He did a really awesome job. Be sure to check out his site. We also have just finished Version 3 of the Spike n’ Barley Intro. I pretty much have Alex Hamm to thank for getting such a sweet intro done. All I did was contact him, told him what I wanted, how I wanted it and made him the music. What I got back completely blew me away. So props to him.

We beat Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil! Alright, so not really but I’ll be damned if we go through that last level again. Now we’re jumping right back on the recording train and recording a ton of footage for you guys, including Silent Hill, Dead Island, a few smaller parts and soon Cryostasis. Due to people constantly bugging me to do so, I put up a donate page and thanks to a few really awesome people who donated, I should have enough to cover any bandwidth charges. So to show my appreciation, Dead Island and Crystasis will come rendered in full blown fancy pants 720p.

Silent Hill will come in 480p. I might upscale to 720p just for the sake of consistancy, but I’m not sure yet.  Obviously, we can’t do anything about it being naturally 480p due to the fact that the game doesn’t support HD. We’ll be going back and forth between games, it’s not going to be like previous months where it was Amnesia all month or Afraid of Monsters: Director’s Cut. I feel this will keep it fresh for you guys.

This won’t be the only big October announcement either, but we’ll leave those as surprises until we’re ready to announce them. Thanks for the support everyone!
